Resource 1 is in need of a data-focused Product Owner for a long-term position. Our client would be open to either a long-term contract or contract-for-hire for this role. The Product Owner will support critical internal data analytics products and serve as the bridge between business stakeholders and engineering teams, ensuring requirements are clearly defined, prioritized and delivered with measurable value. This is a high-visibility role working with senior business leaders and product managers to advance data-driven solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Own the product backlog: define, refine and prioritize user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Lead daily standups, sprint planning and Agile ceremonies for engineering teams.
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders (including executive directors and VPs) and technical teams.
- Coordinate release management, bug triage and enhancements for products nearing release.
- Perform validation and testing using SQL to ensure accuracy of data tables, metrics and pipelines.
- Maintain clear communication, ensuring transparency and alignment across stakeholders.
- Use Jira for backlog and sprint management.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner (data or analytics-focused required).
- Proven success in Agile/ Scrum environments, leading teams and managing sprints/ releases.
- Hands-on SQL skills for data validation and troubleshooting.
- Understand data flows (ingestion, transformation, reporting) at a conceptual level.
- Familiarity with modern data platforms (AWS preferred; Azure acceptable).
- Knowledge of data pipelines, transformations and cloud data warehouse concepts.
- Jira experience required.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience coordinating with executive-level stakeholders (VPs, Directors).
- Power BI familiarity is a plus (not required).
