Description:

  • We are seeking a User Experience (UX) Researcher to join the team—a cutting-edge 3D video conferencing product at the intersection of hardware and software innovation. In this contract role, you will lead applied, product-focused research to inform the design and development of immersive communication experiences. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across product, engineering, and design.
  • You will conduct medium-complexity research projects with minimal oversight, using a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods to understand user needs, pain points, motivations, and goals. Your work will help shape product direction through actionable insights and high-quality communications. You’ll also contribute to cross-team collaborations, continuously growing your expertise and impact as a UX researcher.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, execute, and analyze user research studies with a focus on in-lab qualitative methods such as interviews, usability testing, and observational studies.
  • Design and conduct experimental research to evaluate 3D conferencing features using prototype hardware, contributing insights across both hardware and software product experiences.
  • Utilize quantitative methods, including inferential statistics (e.g., t-tests, ANOVA), to complement qualitative findings and strengthen research insights.
  • Design and evaluate surveys, including question framing and sampling strategies, to gather targeted user feedback.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with UX designers, engineers, and product managers to inform product direction through user-centric thinking and data-driven recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve products and services through research-driven insights, guiding strategy and prioritization with minimal oversight.
  • Plan and prioritize research across multiple projects, aligning with broader goals and communicating effectively with stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a holistic research program by designing and conducting both strategic and tactical research, while adapting approaches to evolving user needs.
  • Perform research that builds user empathy, enhances understanding of user pain points, motivations, and goals, and influences product decisions.
  • Guide product direction by synthesizing user, product, and business needs, and applying knowledge of the product ecosystem and business goals.
  • Build consensus around research-driven, user-centric solutions across teams and foster alignment on product vision.
  • Demonstrate awareness of how qualitative and quantitative research efforts interconnect to drive product strategy and decision-making.
  • Where applicable, quantitative researchers may contribute to code reviews to ensure data quality and rigor.

Required Skills:

  • 2+ years of applied UX research experience in an industry setting (beyond academic-only work).
  • 1–3 years of relevant work or graduate-level research experience in user experience or behavioral research.
  • Strong proficiency in qualitative research methodologies, including in-lab user studies, usability testing, and interviews.
  • Experience designing studies using experimental design frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of inferential statistics (e.g., t-tests, ANOVA) and experience using tools such as SPSS, R, or similar for data analysis and cleaning.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate research insights and influence product direction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in AR/VR, 3D environments, visual perception, or communications technology.
  • Familiarity with conjoint analysis, eye-tracking, or other advanced UX methods.
  • Background in gaming, especially involving 3D or 2D spatial interaction.
  • Prior experience working on hardware/software hybrid products.
  • Portfolio or case study presentation highlighting end-to-end research execution.

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Human Factors, Psychology, Sociology, Cognitive Science, Visual Perception, or a related field.
