Job Details
The Epic Clarity Report Writer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and implementing operational and analytical reports using Epic s Clarity database and other reporting tools. This role works closely with clinical, financial, and operational stakeholders to translate business requirements into meaningful data extracts, dashboards, and reports that support decision-making, compliance, and performance improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with end-users, analysts, and business stakeholders to gather and understand reporting requirements.
- Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and views against the Epic Clarity database.
- Design and build operational, ad hoc, and scheduled reports using tools such as Crystal Reports, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Tableau, or Power BI.
- Ensure accuracy, performance, and usability of reports, validating data against source systems.
- Optimize SQL queries for large-scale datasets to maintain efficiency and scalability.
- Create and maintain report documentation, including specifications, validation processes, and version control.
- Partner with Epic Application Analysts to ensure alignment with workflows and Clarity data models.
- Troubleshoot issues with Clarity extracts, reporting databases, and related ETL processes.
- Provide training and support to business users on accessing and interpreting reports.
- Stay current with Epic reporting updates, new modules, and best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Health Informatics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3 5 years of experience in healthcare reporting or business intelligence.
- Strong proficiency in SQL with experience in writing complex queries, performance tuning, and data analysis.
- Hands-on experience with Epic Clarity data models.
- Proficiency with Crystal Reports, SSRS, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Experience working with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.).
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
