About the Role
We are seeking a Technical Writer to support our client in Alexandria, VA. This position requires a professional with an active Top Secret / SCI clearance, capable of producing clear, accurate, and compliant technical documentation aligned with DoD and U.S. Army standards. The successful candidate will play a key role translating complex technical concepts into mission-ready documents used by engineers, analysts, and military personnel.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, edit, and maintain user guides, system manuals, SOPs, and other technical documentation.
• Translate complex IT, cybersecurity, and network infrastructure details into clear and concise written material.
• Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and military teams to gather requirements and ensure content accuracy.
• Ensure documentation aligns with DoD, Army, MIL-STD formats and style guidelines.
• Manage version control, document lifecycle, and content updates through SharePoint and other CMS platforms.
• Identify documentation gaps and propose solutions to improve clarity and operational efficiency.
• Support Agile teams with documentation required for sprint activities, releases, and system updates.
Mandatory Skills & Qualifications
• Active TS/SCI clearance (required).
• Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Experience working with SharePoint and document/content management systems.
• Strong understanding of IT systems, cybersecurity concepts, and network terminology.
• Familiarity with DoD and Army documentation standards (MIL-STD, templates, and style guides).
• Exceptional writing, editing, grammar, and formatting skills.
• Ability to manage multiple documentation projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
Preferred Skills
• Experience supporting U.S. Army or DoD programs.
• Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
• Understanding of cybersecurity and IT infrastructure.
