Overview:

Client is seeking an experienced Project Manager (PMP Certified) to lead critical education-sector initiatives for state and federal stakeholders. This role requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of educational systems, project governance, and stakeholder management. The successful candidate will oversee full project lifecycles while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and successful engagement with government partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end project management for education-focused state and federal initiatives.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, and documentation aligned with PMP standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (technical, instructional, administrative) to ensure aligned delivery.
  • Monitor scope, budget, risks, and deliverables to keep projects on track.
  • Ensure all outcomes comply with regulatory, quality, and performance expectations.
  • Provide regular updates to internal and external stakeholders, including government agency partners.
  • Facilitate training and adoption of education tools/platforms.
  • Manage vendor relationships and coordinate contract oversight when needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • PMP Certification (current and in good standing)
  • Minimum 8 years of project management experience in U.S. state or federal environments
  • Background in K 12 or higher education systems and related technologies (e.g., SIS, LMS, IEP)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with modern project management tools (MS Project, Jira, Trello, Asana)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior work with state departments of education or public school systems
  • Familiarity with federal compliance frameworks (FERPA, ESSA)
  • Experience managing grant-funded education programs
  • Agile or Scrum certification is a plus

Work Environment:

This is a remote-first position, though in-person meetings may be required in the Crownsville, Baltimore City, or Annapolis areas depending on project needs.
