Senior Systems Engineer

Pay: $100,000 - $110,000

Location: St Louis, MO (on-site)

Are you a hands-on Senior Systems Engineer with 5+ years of experience looking to lead critical infrastructure modernization projects? We're seeking a skilled engineer to take ownership from planning through deployment and post-migration support, driving impactful technology upgrades in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.

You'll work closely with our IT Director to execute strategic initiatives that modernize our infrastructure - from migrating legacy systems to implementing cloud-first solutions. This role demands strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and end users.

What You'll Own:
  • Lead and execute infrastructure modernization projects including Microsoft Entra ID migration, Microsoft Intune deployment, VPN upgrades, and cloud infrastructure rollouts using Microsoft Azure.
  • Support daily IT operations, providing Tier 1 to Tier 3 support remotely across multiple locations, including warehouse and manufacturing environments.
  • Configure, automate, secure, and deploy technology that enables business growth and operational resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

Systems & Infrastructure Modernization
  • Drive projects involving Azure, Intune, Entra ID, and cloud platform integrations.
  • Migrate Windows Server environments (AD, DHCP, file shares) to cloud-native platforms.
  • Decommission legacy Hyper-V systems and modernize VPN/network connectivity (IPSec, Ubiquiti).

Identity & Endpoint Management
  • Deploy and manage Microsoft Intune for Windows 10/11 endpoints.
  • Configure Conditional Access, MFA enforcement, and compliance policies via Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Automate device provisioning and enforce baseline security standards.

End-User Support & Troubleshooting
  • Provide Tier 1-3 support for employees across departments and locations.
  • Serve as a trusted technical partner, resolving identity, device, and connectivity issues efficiently.
  • Collaborate with vendors and escalate cases to maintain business continuity.

Automation & Operational Engineering
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to streamline provisioning, monitoring, and system management.
  • Implement proactive monitoring and alerting for system health and device status.
  • Document best practices and contribute to knowledgebase resources.

Support & Resilience
  • Deliver Tier 2/3 support during key project rollouts.
  • Assist with cloud backup strategies, disaster recovery testing, and infrastructure security, especially in warehouse and manufacturing areas.

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years in systems engineering or infrastructure roles supporting multi-site environments.
  • Proven ability to independently design and deliver production-ready solutions from loosely defined goals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a calm, confident approach to troubleshooting and user support.
  • Hands-on expertise in:
  • Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD (sync, policy design, cleanup)
  • Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, and Windows device management
  • PowerShell scripting and automation
  • Windows Server, Active Directory, and file server migrations
  • Practical knowledge of:
  • VPN technologies (IPSec, Ubiquiti, Cisco/Meraki)
  • Conditional Access, MFA, Zero Trust frameworks
  • DNS management/migration
  • Backup and cloud migration processes
  • Strong communication skills and self-motivation.

Preferred Experience:
  • Ubiquiti UniFi network stack
  • Azure Monitor, Power BI, or dashboarding tools
  • Dynamics 365 or Business Central infrastructure prep
  • PowerApps, Power Automate, and automation workflows
  • Participation in PCI or security audits

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Minimum of 5 years supporting complex, multi-site IT infrastructures
