Key Responsibilities:

Travel & Logistics Planning:

  • Proactively plan weekly travel routes and hotel accommodations based on project warehouse and customer site locations.
  • Optimize lodging to minimize windshield time while maximizing productivity.
  • Accommodate shifting logistics in Ct, every school in all of Connecticut.
  • Ensure on-time site arrival, factoring in GPS navigation, traffic, and potential delays.

Site Preparation & Communication:

  • Call site contacts ahead of arrival to confirm access and entry protocols.
  • Navigate customer sites to locate designated rooms for equipment setup.
  • Set up toolkit, MiFi hotspot, and connect to the Webex bridge for real-time support and coordination.

Hardware Installation & Fiber Handling:

  • Rack and stack networking hardware (including 40 lb switches) as needed using tools provided in the kit.
  • Understand and respond to instructions provided via Webex, including when to insert/remove optics and fiber connections.
  • Handle fiber patch cables with precision, ensuring no contamination or damage to connectors.
  • Clean fiber ends and patch ports using proper materials and techniques from the kit.
  • Navigate large switch chassis based on chassis/slot/port references for proper hardware interaction.
  • Fish and route single fiber jumpers through dense cable environments as needed.
  • Accurately label cables and ports using label markers or printers provided on site.

Technical Operations:

  • Console into switches (when required) to perform local software upgrades.
  • Use screen-sharing tools for coordination with remote engineers or network operations center.
  • Maintain situational awareness of network protocols, terms, and hardware during Webex-led deployments.

Post-Deployment:

  • Pack up tools, secure all materials, and ensure cleanliness of the work area.
  • Transition to the next site and repeat the deployment process as scheduled.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Valid Driver s License and ability to travel extensively (sometimes on short notice).
  • Experience racking and installing network switches and hardware.
  • Strong understanding of fiber optic handling, cleaning, and patching.
  • Familiarity with large switch chassis layout and cabling best practices.
  • Proficiency using navigation and GPS-enabled smartphones.
  • Comfort using Webex or similar screen-sharing platforms for guided installations.
  • Physical ability to lift and maneuver equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Excellent communication skills for on-site coordination and remote interaction.

Preferred:

  • CCNA certification or equivalent practical networking experience.
  • Experience working in field-based deployment or integration projects.
  • Basic understanding of console access methods and local firmware/software upgrades.
