Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong Assembler programming skills to support legacy system development, maintenance, and modernization efforts. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of z/OS, Assembler (HLASM), and Mainframe architecture, along with experience in high-volume transaction processing systems.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain applications using IBM Mainframe Assembler (HLASM).

  • Analyze and enhance existing Assembler, COBOL, JCL, and VSAM programs in a complex mainframe environment.

  • Support legacy system enhancements, troubleshooting, and production support activities.

  • Work on performance tuning and optimization of Assembler-based programs.

  • Create detailed technical design documents, unit test cases, and deployment plans.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, QA testers, and other developers, to ensure high-quality deliverables.

  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and security best practices.

  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve system incidents and defects in a timely manner.

  • Contribute to system upgrades, migrations, and integration efforts with other platforms or modern systems.


Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in Mainframe application development.

  • Strong hands-on experience with IBM Assembler (HLASM).

  • Proficient in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, TSO/ISPF, and IBM utilities.

  • In-depth knowledge of mainframe internals, memory management, and performance tuning.

  • Familiarity with z/OS, TSO, CICS, and DB2 environments.

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum and/or Waterfall development methodologies.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and debug complex Assembler programs.

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
