This job contributes to Starbucks success by acting as a key business support role for the Workplace Solutions Design Team. This role supports certain activities within the design process, project management and library management that enables the studio team to design workplace environments that uphold the Starbucks brand promise while meeting sustainability, accessibility, budget, schedule, and operational requirements.

As an associate workplace environments designer, you will...

  • Develop workplace environments and furniture layouts within parameters of project charter and in support of partner experience as a dedicated WIM (Workplace Implementation Management) Team resource.
  • Develop design documentation utilizing design guidelines that reflect design intent including schematic drawings and finish palettes
  • Responsible for the integrity and quality of the implementation documents inclusive of design intent, detailing, code requirements, scheduling and MEPs.
  • Participates in the architectural design process by reviewing and analyzing project documentation, meets all established deadlines. Conducts site visits as needed.
  • Participates in schematic reviews with cross-functional teams
  • Maintains and improves existing as-built drawings in CAD. Coordinates with team on active projects where as-builts have changed and update as needed.
  • Coordinates with furniture vendor and business systems team to maintain accurate monthly updates in worktech software.
  • Supports design managers and senior managers with established studio reporting by generating updates, collecting information and distributing reports.
  • Supports new consultant on-boarding with key resources, systems access, etc.
  • Assist in management of design library, including ordering, receiving, and organizing samples
  • Maintain regular schedule within established business hours. Manage and report working hours efficiently and effectively.


We'd love to hear from people with:

  • CAD drafting using Revit , AutoCAD and Sketchup software 2-5 yrs
  • Experience managing projects independently with minimum supervision 2-5 yrs
  • Experience in the production of design development and construction drawings 2-5 yrs
  • Experience working in retail, hospitality or restaurant design or interior/architectural organization 2-5 yrs
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design or similar required 2-5 yrs


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities
  • Current knowledge of industry trends in retail store and corporate office interiors
  • Current working knowledge of building and health codes and compliance issues
  • Demonstrated 3D visualization ability and working knowledge of color and design principles
  • Ability to balance design with operational needs and budget objectives resulting in exceptional workplace environments
  • Ability to execute multiple designs under tight deadlines
  • Skilled in the visual, written and verbal communication of design issues
  • Ability to communicate design with hand sketches/drawings
  • Ability to translate design principles / objectives into unique and varied workplace environments
  • Knowledge of architectural details and specifications for construction document production
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Solid Organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong problem-solving and decision making skills
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
