Sr. Kubernetes DevOps Engineer


Employment Type: Direct Hire/Perm


Workplace Type: Onsite/Hybrid


Location: Irvine, CA


Compensation: $280-$350k salary w/ a 20% annual bonus



Responsibilities:




  • Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and Ansible to automate cloud resource provisioning, ensuring consistency, repeatability, and efficient resource management.

  • Deploy and manage Kubernetes clusters to effectively orchestrate containerized applications and microservices architectures.

  • Continuously optimize cluster performance and ensure high availability to minimize downtime.

  • Optimize Kubernetes resource management for continuous cost reduction.

  • Implement robust monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to gain real-time insights into system health.

  • Proactively identify and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and potential issues before they impact operations.

  • Work closely with product and development teams to troubleshoot and resolve errors swiftly.

  • Optimize systems to enhance operational efficiency and streamline workflows for improved service quality.

  • Continuously iterate on operational processes, automating tasks and establishing standardization for a smoother and more efficient workflow.



Required Skills & Experience:




  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience as a DevOps/SRE Engineer with a strong focus on Kubernetes, IaC, and cloud-native technologies.

  • Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes and containerization technologies, with experience dinging, deploying, troubleshooting, managing and maintaining Kubernetes clusters.

  • Senior-level expertise in Kubernetes operation, familiarity with Helm and Istio, and a proven track record of optimizing high availability and disaster recovery architectures.

  • Solid understanding of Linux kernel, including practical experience in relevant areas like networking, storage, file systems, memory management, scheduler, and cgroups.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve system and network layer performance issues and failures.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.



Additional Skills (Preferred):




  • Experience with both multi-cloud and multi-tenant deployments in Kubernetes.

  • Advanced knowledge of AWS ecosystems and familiarity with other multi-cloud providers (Azure, Google Cloud Platform, OCI).

  • Track record of successfully building, deploying, troubleshooting, and maintaining complex Kubernetes Operators.

  • Experience operating open-source software like etcd, Zookeeper, Kafka, ELK Stack, and Nginx/HAProxy.

  • Certifications in Kubernetes, AWS, IaC (i.e. Terraform), Cloud Providers (Azure, Google Cloud Platform, OCI), ect.
