Job Description

Perform structural analysis on assigned seat projects at the vehicle system level. Use Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other analysis methods to assess and lead designs. Develop Finite Element Analysis (FEA) plans for assigned project. Participate in the creation of assigned subsystem Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models. Motivate Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) suppliers and internal resources to meet program milestones and deliverables. Complete FEA analysis including the production of VDDV models from NX math and execution of documented VDDV models per assigned projects. Perform FEA analysis such as Seat/Seat Belt Anchorage Strength, Child Restraint Anchorage Strength, Front/Rear Impact, Head Impact, whiplash etc. and lead seat designs to meet performance requirements. Compare FEA results to performance requirements and recommend viable design solutions. Correlate analysis results to physical test and update FEA models and FEA procedures and document results in FEA reports. Generates technical solutions for current, new, and major programs. Perform sophisticated design analysis. Develop engineering designs (including subsystems). Perform and be responsible for resources for virtual assessment of designs and compare results to performance requirements. Initiate design solutions to resolve any performance issues with mass and cost efficiency. Implement engineering changes and specifies and balances system requirements. Plan and implement test and development programs and stay abreast of new technology. Communicate, coordinate, and consult with engineering departments and customers. Hybrid Work Policy - 3 days In-office, 2 days remote - Must be able to report to local office. 25% domestic travel required.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Structural Engineering or related field of study and Two years of experience as a Computer Aided Engineer, Lead Engineer, or related occupation. Two years of experience in Linear Analysis (Nastran, Optistruct or equivalent) and Non-Linear Analysis, (LS Dyna, Abaqus); Seat Finite Element Analysis (FEA); Material Properties as inputs into Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) analysis tools; Performing CAE analysis on seat structure, foam and trim; Seat Hpt/TA, comfort and structural analysis; GM design math systems, NX; Seat Structure; Foam and trim Knowledge; and Structural analysis. One year of experience in Automotive Physical Test methods.
