About Us: The Advanced Technology Laboratories (ATL) is an applied research and development center within Lockheed Martin. Aligned with our Corporation's Chief Technology Officer, ATL is dedicated to advancing scientific discovery and transitioning innovative technologies in human systems, robotics and autonomy, spectrum systems, data analytics, and more.

Position Overview: Are you an engineering student with a passion for software development and unmanned aerial systems? At ATL, you will work on a variety of projects that challenge your skills and offer opportunities for growth and learning. Your role will involve working on small, focused development teams to convert scientific principles into real-world applications, helping to shape the future of Defense technology.
We are seeking a Research Engineer Co-op for our Eagan, MN facility with an ability to obtain a security clearance. As an engineering co-op at ATL, your day-to-day responsibilities vary based on the needs of our programs. We pride ourselves in the flexibility we give to our engineers to pursue research that is of interest to them and give opportunities for engineers to grow and learn about what others in the lab are doing. Based on our current needs, your skills and the skills you wish to acquire, you could be tasked with any of the following:
- Design, implement, and test systems for UAS swarming and swarm autonomy.
- Assist our software engineering team in their day-to-day work.
- Participate in field tests where our systems are tested on the ground and in the air on commercial or Military assets.
Basic Qualifications
- Currently pursuing B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
- Working proficiency in one of: Python, C++, Rust
- Familiarity with containers (Docker, Podman, etc.) and microservice architectures
- Good teamwork and collaboration skills
- Ability to obtain a security clearance to at least the Secret level
