1942 Service Technician (HVAC SYSTEMS)
Position Summary
The Service Technician is responsible for performing maintenance, diagnostic work, and repair on building automation and control systems. This role evaluates system performance, troubleshoots issues with both controls and mechanical equipment, completes required documentation, and supports commissioning or basic programming tasks as needed. The technician also serves as a primary point of contact for clients and installation teams.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
System Maintenance & Performance
- Perform scheduled maintenance on automation systems, including backups, device testing, and network evaluations.
- Assess system operation and overall building performance to ensure proper functionality.
- Conduct equipment-level testing and provide training to facility personnel as needed.
Service & Repair Tasks
- Execute assigned service projects and ensure completion within expected timelines.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to control systems, HVAC operation, and mechanical components.
- Replace faulty parts, devices, or components when required to restore system operation.
Technical Support & Communication
- Maintain consistent communication with supervisors, coordinators, account managers, and customers regarding service activities and system status.
- Serve as a liaison between the client and field installation teams.
- Document daily work, findings, and recommendations accurately and on time.
On-Call Support
- Participate in the rotating 24-hour on-call schedule to provide after-hours support when assigned.
Skills & Competencies
- Understanding of building automation or HVAC control theory and applications.
- Ability to perform or assist with control system programming or start-up activities.
- Familiarity with electronics, low-voltage wiring, and basic electrical circuits.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities for both mechanical and control-related issues.
- Proficiency with computers, networking basics, and related software tools.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Education & Experience
- Associate degree in a technical field (preferred), or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Experience with HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, or building automation technologies.
- Background in computer programming or system configuration is beneficial.
- Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting complex systems.
