Job: Certification Project Specialist
Location: NC
Experienced Certification Project Specialist with strong expertise in CMS/MMIS certification processes, compliance management, and project coordination. Skilled in leading cross-functional teams, managing certification workstreams, tracking artifacts and evidence, and ensuring timely delivery aligned with CMS guidelines, MITA maturity goals, and organizational project management standards.
Responsibilities
Lead Certification Workstream activities for assigned projects
Execute certification strategy to support MMIS/CMS certification goals
Conduct and lead certification workstream meetings
Support leadership in planning & executing CMS certification activities
Assist state teams in aligning certification strategy to MITA 3.0 maturity levels
Maintain CMS certification document repository & evidence tracker
Collect, organize, manage, and recommend evidence for certification compliance
Draft narrative documentation to accompany certification evidence
Manage and support system demonstrations for Business users and CMS reviewers
Follow-up on CMS action items, exceptions, and required clarifications
Provide training and education on CMS certification processes and best practices
Ensure ongoing awareness of CMS certification policy and program updates
Integrate CMS certification activities into project schedules and work plans
Drive execution using established program management processes & standards
Ensure compliance with CMS and State-defined quality and performance standards
Required Skills / Qualifications
Strong knowledge of CMS/MMIS Certification frameworks and requirements
Experience leading cross-functional project teams
Understanding of MITA 3.0 maturity models
Experience in evidence management, documentation, and repository maintenance
Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder coordination skills
Experience preparing certification artifacts, narratives, and system demonstrations
Ability to interpret and apply CMS compliance policies and updates
Project planning and scheduling experience
Familiarity with PMO methodologies and program management standards
Strong attention to detail, risk tracking, and issue resolution
