Under broad supervision, responsible for product and/or business services sales in order to reach the project profitability and billing levels so that clients are satisfied. Develops proposals, assesses customer needs in order to recommend appropriate products/services. May customize product in order to meet client requirements. Provides technical support to clients after the sale of the product, troubleshoots technical problems. May visit clients in order to present company's products/services. Has working technical knowledge of all phases of the activity. Role typically requires between 3 and 5 years of experience.

We are seeking a technically skilled and customer-focused Applications Engineer to join our inside sales team. In this role, you will serve as the technical liaison between our customers and the engineering team, providing expert consultation on our liquid process filtration and crossflow membrane technologies. You will be responsible for understanding customer requirements, recommending appropriate filtration solutions, and providing technical support throughout the sales process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise and application support for our liquid process filtration and crossflow membrane product lines
  • Analyze customer requirements and process conditions to recommend optimal filtration solutions
  • Collaborate with field sales representatives to develop technical proposals and quotations
  • Conduct technical presentations and product demonstrations for customers and prospects
  • Assist in troubleshooting customer applications and resolving technical issues
  • Support product trials and pilot testing at customer facilities
  • Participate in technical trade shows and industry events
  • Document and communicate application successes and challenges to R&D and product management
  • Stay current on industry trends, competitive offerings, and emerging technologies
  • Contribute to the development of technical literature, application notes, and case studies

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
  • 2+ years of experience in liquid filtration, separation processes, or related industries
  • Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, filtration theory, and membrane separation principles
  • Knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and technical aptitude
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
  • Customer-focused mindset with consultative sales approach
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and MS Office applications
  • Experience with filter sizing calculations and system design (preferred)
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements in regulated industries like food, beverage, or pharmaceuticals (preferred)

Specific Technical Knowledge Areas
  • Knowledge of depth filtration and surface filtration principles
  • Experience with crossflow membrane technologies (microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration)
  • Understanding of filter media types and performance characteristics and filtration system components and operation
  • Knowledge of filter testing methodologies and performance evaluation
  • Understanding of common contaminants and separation challenges
  • Familiarity with industrial process flow diagrams and P&IDs
