Distinguishing Characteristics
This is the journey level of the series. Incumbents perform IT systems analysis specific to SAP systems; and identify and resolve independently all but the most complex problems within the system. Project duties are typically medium to high risk, include multiple departments and have a significant financial or operational impact on key business processes.

The SAP Technical Analyst series is distinguished from the Systems Support Analyst series and Systems Procedures Analyst series in that the focus is on SAP enterprise support projects. It is further distinguished from the SAP Team Leader by the latter's supervisory responsibility for a section of the SAP Financial Team Division.
Examples of Duties
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  1. Provides ongoing technical support for the SAP systems (County-wide technology), during and post implementation phase.
  2. Defines and implements SAP security and controls policies and procedures; recommends and develops security measures to protect information against unauthorized modification or loss; and maintains SAP security users and roles.
  3. Provides second-level support for users. Responds to end-user inquiries on SAP systems usage.
  4. Researches end-user problems and provides solutions.
  5. Develop and conduct end-user training of business functions of the SAP software.
  6. Develops test case scenarios, configures and tests software fixes, enhancements, and upgrades.
  7. Develops and documents new functional requirements, configures, and tests the system.
  8. Writes code for new functionality and reporting.
