Role: Azure Data Engineer

Location: Seattle, WA

Duration: Long-term

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes using Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, and other Azure services.
  • Develop and maintain data models, data marts, and data lakes to support analytics and business intelligence initiatives.
  • Collaborate with data analysts, business stakeholders, and software engineers to understand data requirements and deliver optimal solutions.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data workflows and performance issues in Azure environments.
  • Ensure data governance, data security, and compliance with best practices and regulations.
  • Work with structured and unstructured data from various sources including on-premises and cloud systems.
  • Automate data workflows and optimize data storage for performance and cost-efficiency.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles.
  • Strong experience with Azure cloud services, including:
  • Azure Data Factory (ADF)
  • Azure Synapse Analytics (or SQL Data Warehouse)
  • Azure Data Lake Storage
  • Azure Databricks
  • Azure Functions
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or PySpark.
  • Experience with version control (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL best practices.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools within the Azure ecosystem.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Azure Data Engineer Associate certification (DP-203) or equivalent.
  • Experience with Power BI or other visualization tools.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks (e.g., Azure Purview).
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
