Senior Firmware Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Carlsbad, CA that is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer who will work closely with Electrical Engineering team to create functional and effective firmware for microprocessors to control and monitor hardware functions. The Firmware Engineer will also work closely with the GUI Software Engineer team to support needed data communication. The individual in this role is action-oriented and eager to embrace new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, passion, and enthusiasm, while also building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.

Responsibilities:
* Develop firmware for micro-controllers in console
* Test and debug the functions of firmware with hardware
* Implement data communication between micro-controllers and front-end PCs
* Provide design documentation
* Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:
* B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
* 5+ years of experience
* Experience in the following areas: real-time firmware design, programming in C.C++, object oriented design, and embedded systems
* Strong writing, documentation, and communication skills
* Ability to work in Agile environment
* Experience in controlling microprocessor peripherals, various data communication (I2C, CAN, TCP/IP, USB), and system integration preferred
* Knowledge in digital and analog circuitry, digital communications and signal processing, preferred
* Familiarity with STM32CubeIDE and STM32 microcontrollers
* The job requires travel, sometimes for long distances and extended periods of time

Physical conditions:
* Able to work in an indoor remote environment for which no adverse conditions are expected; This position requires the following physical activities and/or requirements
* Remaining in a stationary or sedentary position, often standing and/or sitting for prolonged periods of time
* Repeating motions, such as keyboarding, that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
* Communicating with others to exchange information
* Adjusting, moving, carrying, lifting, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 pounds

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
