Job Description

DESCRIPTION:

Duties: Design, develop, test, implement and operationally support software solutions, many of which will be composed into the Cloud Services environment. Solve business problems through innovation and engineering practices. Involved in all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle(SDLC) including analyzing requirements, incorporating architectural standards into application design specifications, documenting application specifications, translating technical requirements into programmed application modules, and developing or enhancing software application modules. Identify or troubleshoot application code-related issues. Take active role in code reviews to ensure solutions are aligned to pre-defined architectural specifications. Assist with design reviews by recommending ways to incorporate requirements into designs and information or data flows. Participate in project planning sessions with project managers, business analysts, and team members to analyze business requirements and outline proposed solutions. Develop software modules and microservices by examining system flows, data usage and work processes. Implement distributed architecture-based system involving large data volumes and real-time event processing. Understand the architecture across application platforms and integrate with performant Database systems. Accommodate both business and functional requirements for scalable systems with high-volume transaction processing. Utilize automated testing frameworks to develop testing programs and test-automation suites. Provide ongoing technical support platform. Monitor performance and availability of the application systems. Troubleshoot technical issues. Research and evaluate alternative solutions and make recommendations for changes that would enhance the platform. Provide production and technical support in the case of a serious outage. Assess requirements and transform them into actionable design items. Design solutions over the cloud. Guide junior developers and review their coding, testing, and deployment. Represent team in various forums on technical and non-technical solutions questions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field of study plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or as Software Engineer, Software Development Engineer, Software Developer, Programmer Analyst, IT Consultant, or related occupation.

Skills Required: This position requires three (3) years of experience with the following: Designing and developing robust, scalable, and high-performance software applications using Java; Writing, executing, and maintaining unit tests using Junit; Database design, management, query optimization, and data analysis using SQL; CI/CD tools (such as Jenkins), including setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines; Infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform or CloudFormation; Version control and collaborative development using Bitbucket, GitHub, or GIT; Public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform; DevOps practices within a cloud environment, including incident and problem management, root cause analysis, and implementing preventive measures; Managing and optimizing cloud-based databases such as DynamoDB; Cloud messaging services such as Amazon SQS; Cloud caching technologies for performance optimization; Enterprise observability platforms such as Dynatrace or AWS CloudWatch for monitoring and logging; Solutions architecture and conducting secure code reviews to ensure compliance with security standards; Designing and implementing distributed systems for scalability and reliability; Developing and managing micro-services based architectures; Working with Agile and Scrum frameworks for software development; Designing, developing, and consuming SOAP and RESTful web services; Analyzing data systems and developing and maintaining technical engineering documentation, including documenting system architecture, data flows, and processes; and Shell Scripting and system administration on UNIX/Linux systems. This position requires two (2) years of experience with the following: Developing software solutions using Python; and mentoring and training new and junior engineers. This position requires one (1) year of experience with the following: Developing applications using Rust or Go, focusing on system-level programming and performance optimization; and security scanning tools including Fortify for code analysis and vulnerability detection.
