About the Role
The Data Engineering Intern will have the opportunity to learn and apply an analytical problem-solving approach to a diverse set of business questions. The Database Engineering Intern will work directly with the Managers and members of the Data Team as well as other stakeholders who work with technology around Select Quote. This internship will prepare the candidate for future work in the field of IT by equipping them to leverage a variety of tools and techniques to answer business questions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Learns Database design and data engineering tools and techniques:
- - Data transformation with Apache Airflow and Python
- - AWS
- - SQL Server and Redshift databases
- - Data Warehousing
- Troubleshoots issues and providing feedback
- Configures user settings and permissions within various software applications
- Provides excellent customer service
Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:
- Currently enrolled in Junior or Senior year of college/university
- Degree focused in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics Engineering
- Relevant previous internship experience or the completion of a project that demonstrates aptitude for programming and data analysis
- Basic understanding of SQL, Redshift, and MS SQL Server
- Basic knowledge of Python
- Basic understanding of common data structures and relational database design
Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed indoors with potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to office work. Could periodically travel to other office and operational sites. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
