Job Details
This is an intermediate level position responsible for designing, developing, and measuring routine to moderately complex courses to support various learning initiatives, by following defined instructional design standards and using aligned design and development tools. Uses data from needs and audience analysis to create learning objectives and works with higher-level Instructional Designers to ensure the effectiveness of the courses by evaluating and measuring the contents on a continuous basis.

- Defines course objectives or goals, designs appropriate classroom or online learning solutions (formal or informal, classroom or online, etc.) and identifies the best delivery method for the defined learning need.
- Identifies the best delivery method for the defined learning need.
- Parses routine and moderate content and concepts into easier to understand sections.
- Develops appropriate review/test questions and exercises to validate participant understanding.
- Distributes draft course materials and solicits feedback; revises materials accordingly.
- Evaluates effectiveness of training by assessing scores, costs, and post-class performance.
- Arranges, designs, implements and observes usability sessions.
- Assists with the development of a long-term maintenance strategy to handle the changing nature of the course materials over time.
- Conducts train-the-trainer sessions, observes pilot and classroom courses, acts as a SME/resource for trainer and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Provides feedback to trainers.
- Assists with the final rollout of the courses.
- Maintains existing course content.
- Conducts research to identify performance and skill gaps.
- Performs task analyses with subject matter experts (SMEs) and business leaders to identify course objectives, content, requirements, and delivery.
- Develops and conducts surveys to evaluate effectiveness of learning materials.
- Works with manager to determine resources needed to implement learning solutions.
- Assesses, measures, and develops programs to enhance employee performance.
- Researches, tests, and implements technology for new learning solutions.
- Maintains course implementation timeline.
- Develops design documents and action/communication plans and works with manager or senior ID to determine project timelines.
- Obtains appropriate resources (e.g., SMEs and IT)
- Works with senior IDs and manager to develop Instructional Design skills.
- Keeps abreast of new training methods and techniques.
- Extra hours may be required during business peaks or to meet deadlines.
- Occasional travel required.
qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 2 years of experience in instructional design/development, teaching/training delivery, web design or responsibilities that involve performance improvement initiatives.
