Principal Engineers, Systems Design located in Frisco, TX will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in multiple disciplines to the second level (Tier 2) technical support and engineering teams.

Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Drive engineering projects and teams through active contributions to engineering techniques.
  • Serve as a technical system expert with a profound understanding of current 4G Core technology.
  • Develop, design, and implement new ideas to enhance existing and new systems, processes, and services.
  • Conduct investigative independent studies and problem-solving for non-routine tasks. Analyze existing processes and vendor roadmaps to anticipate upcoming technology changes.
  • Improve designs, processes, or products by reducing costs, improving efficiency, or quality.
  • Initiate and facilitate brainstorming sessions and dialogues for product and process improvement.
  • Produce advanced documentation on technology architecture, capabilities, limitations, and advantages.
  • Create and modify clear documentation on systems for internal and external use.
  • Provide consultative and leadership support to other ATAC (Support) groups and vendors in the delivery of highly complex support for T-Mobile's wireless network elements, platforms, systems, applications, and services.
  • Utilize professional concepts to carry out expert-level diagnostic investigations of customer-impacting network issues and provide technical leadership, guidance, and advice to other engineers who are diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex computer systems.
  • Identify technical development opportunities for other engineers, as well as develop and implement technical training programs and technical bulletins in order to provide short term workaround solutions and guidance on current network issues as necessary.
  • Resolve highly complex technical design or service issues that cannot be resolved through normal operations and maintenance procedures.
  • Provide leadership for root cause analysis to drive issue resolution and limit the impact to the customer.
  • Assist with RPI/RFP/RFQ processes for new technologies and collaborate with engineering, product development, and vendor technical organizations to drive long-term product improvements.
  • Lead engineering and vendor teams in the validation of new products and services to ensure trouble-free network introduction and coordinate updates for the national, regional, and market teams.
  • Provide expert consultative support during major software upgrades as well as recommend network parameter settings as proactive initiatives geared towards exceeding network Key Performance Indicators.
  • Telecommuting is permitted, but applicant must work from the worksite location at least 3-4 days per week. No additional national or international travel is anticipated.

Skill requirements:
  • (1) Designing systems and implementing operations as a technology lead, handling Telecommunications network 4G Core.
  • (2) Cloud Computing in Virtual Network Function (VNF) in 4G/LTE Core network environments.
  • (3) Designing, integrating, and maintaining Telco core network platforms using PCRF, USD, One-NDS, HLR/HSS and AAA in the telecommunications industry.
  • (4) Managing telecommunications system with Linux, Solaris, and SQL databases, ensuring smooth operation and integration within the network infrastructure.
  • (5) Conducting network optimization and troubleshooting, employing a range of tools and techniques to maintain high-performance standards and resolve issues promptly.
  • (6) Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative solutions, leveraging advanced technologies to enhance network efficiency and reliability.

Experience and education requirements:

PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunication, or related, or its foreign equivalent, and 5 years of relevant work experience.

ALTERNATIVE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunication, or related, or its foreign equivalent, and 7 years of relevant work experience.
