Job Title: AWS AI Engineer

Position Overview
An AI Engineering team within a highly regulated industry is seeking an experienced AWS AI Engineer on a contract basis. The team builds custom web applications powered by leading Large Language Models (LLMs), primarily within secure Amazon Bedrock environments. The mission is to streamline business processes and deliver public-facing value through responsible AI implementation, with a strong emphasis on data security and human-centered design.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in AI development and AWS services and is comfortable building and deploying AI solutions that integrate into complex enterprise systems.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and deploy AI solutions using Amazon Bedrock and related AWS services
Identify and implement opportunities to integrate AI into existing applications and workflows
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather, document, and translate business requirements into technical solutions
Ensure best practices in AI model deployment, monitoring, optimization, and maintenance
Produce AI Center of Excellence (COE) artifacts and technical documentation for knowledge transfer and audit/compliance purposes
Participate in collaborative development using cloud-based version control and CI/CD pipelines
Required Qualifications
3 5 years of experience in application development and AI/ML implementation
2+ years of hands-on experience with Amazon Bedrock and related AWS services
Strong understanding of AI/ML frameworks, model deployment, and optimization techniques
Experience with application integration patterns and integrating AI solutions into complex systems
Proficiency in React and TypeScript for building AI-enabled user interfaces
Experience designing intuitive UI/UX for AI applications
Familiarity with cloud-based version control and CI/CD pipelines
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working on public sector or government projects
Familiarity with compliance requirements and security standards in regulated environments
AWS AI Cloud Practitioner certification or related credentials
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
