Job Details
ICF is seeking a Certified Oncology Data Specialist-Certified (ODS-C) to support a pilot evaluation project aimed at assessing the completeness and accuracy of USCDI+ data elements from electronic pathology reports. The project will utilize a cloud-based electronic pathology platform, eMaRC Plus, to process, filter, and aggregate data from a selection of central cancer registries. This is a remote position. Successful candidates must hold (and maintain) a current ODS-C certification from the National Cancer Registrars Association.

Pennsylvania Remote Office (PA99)
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, filter, process, and aggregate pathology laboratory files using eMaRC Plus electronic pathology software.
- Evaluate the text of electronic pathology reports from various laboratories reporting through APHL-AIMS.
- Evaluate the accuracy of reportability and auto-coding of cases in eMaRC using the items of primary site, histology, behavior, and laterality as well as other minimum USCDI+ items.
- Assign values for missing USCDI+ items based on the text of the pathology reports.
- Utilize text mining to remove non-reportable cases from electronic pathology report files.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of data and participate in quality reviews.
- Maintains the highest degree of confidentiality of all verbal, written and computerized information.
- Maintain ODS-C credentials through the National Cancer Registrar's Association (NCRA).
Basic Qualifications:
- Current certification as an ODS-C by the National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA).
- 5+ years' experience abstracting cancer cases with an ODS-C.
- 1+ year of experience in casefinding and abstracting reportable cancer cases from electronic pathology reports.
- 1+ year of experience with cancer registry coding standards from NPCR, NAACCR, and SEER: ICD-O-3, ICD-10-CM, SEER Program Coding and Staging Manual, Solid Tumor Rules, as well as other required standard setter coding manuals.
Professional Skills:
- Strong conceptual, as well as quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills, diplomacy, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
