Typical Day in the Role
- Create and customize reports using ServiceNow's reporting tools (e.g., list reports, pivot tables, bar charts, pie charts).
- Develop platform analytics dashboards for real-time insights.
- Use filters, conditions, and groupings to tailor reports to specific business needs.
- Analyze data trends and patterns to support business decisions.
- Work with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into actionable reports.
- Validate data accuracy and consistency across reports.

responsibilities:
- Regularly review and update existing reports to ensure they remain relevant and efficient.
- Optimize report performance by refining queries and reducing unnecessary data loads.
- Archive or retire outdated reports.
- Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and process owners to gather requirements and deliver insights.
- Provide training or documentation to end-users on how to access and interpret reports.
- Participate in meetings or workshops to understand evolving reporting needs.
- Investigate and resolve issues related to report generation or data discrepancies.
- Support users in troubleshooting access or visibility issues with reports and dashboards.
- Maintain documentation for report logic, data sources, and usage guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies.
- Performance Expectations:
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency.
- Maintain a clean and organized report library.
- Stay updated on ServiceNow reporting features and best practices.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to align reporting with business goals.
- Provide training or documentation to empower users to self-serve reports when appropriate.
- Our key metrics include the following: Report Accuracy, timeliness, report utilization, stakeholder satisfaction, volume and complexity, system performance, compliance and governance.
- Error rate in reports (data mismatches, incorrect filters).
- Frequency of data validation issues reported by stakeholders
- Turnaround time for report requests.
- Adherence to SLAs for report delivery
- Number of active users accessing reports and dashboards.
- Frequency of report usage (helps gauge relevance and value).
- Feedback scores from users and stakeholders.
- Number of rework requests due to unmet requirements.
- Number of reports created or maintained per month.
- Complexity of reports handled (e.g., multi-source, performance analytics, scripted reports).
- Impact of reports on ServiceNow instance performance (e.g., long-running queries).
- Optimization of report queries and data sources.
- Adherence to data governance policies.
- Proper use of roles and permissions in report sharing.
