Responsibilities
- The PMA-276 Avionics Systems Engineer will be a member of the PMA-276 Avionics Integrated Program Team (IPT). As part of this team, the incumbent will be required to support Level 2 and Level 3 IPT Leads for assigned projects within the Avionics IPT, as well as supporting all other team members (Logistics, Contracts, Business Financial Managers (BFMs), etc.), when required. The incumbent will provide systems engineering functions associated with the acquisition and in-service support of Naval Aviation systems to achieve an integrated and balanced total system that meets cost schedule and performance objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and 10+ years of related work experience
- Experience with system acquisition, including design, development and sustainment. This experience should include:
- Working on Government contracts with contractors/suppliers
- Reviewing, editing and generating technical inputs for Statements of Work (SoWs)
- Reviewing and providing technical comments on engineering Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) items
- Experience with Technical Evaluations of Contractor proposals
- Experience with GPS/INS Navigation systems, IFF systems, Antenna systems, CNS/ATM Requirements, RNP/RNAV, and other enabling avionics hardware, such as Mission Computers, networking equipment, displays, etc.
- Experience supporting functions associated with leading and coordinating with the Subject Matter Expert (SME) engineers responsible for the complete aircraft to ensure successful integration of the avionics systems. Provide support orchestrating and directing system requirements development and management, risk management and technical performance measurement and tracking across all related engineering disciplines.
- Experience with participating in and generating and adjudicating checklists for Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) meetings
- Experience with Avionics Architecture, including architecture diagrams and descriptions, Avionics Data Buses (MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429, RS-422, etc.) and Avionics Networks (Ethernet) is desired
- Experience with Avionics Software, including experience on Avionics projects involving firmware and/or software and associated documentation
- Experience with the agile software process; Avionics projects will be intertwined with the Software team's execution and require coordination
- Ability to provide technical status on projects to AH-1Z & UH-1Y Avionics Level 2 and Level 3 IPT Leads, as well as Level 1 IPT Leads as appropriate. Incumbent also provides technical status to Engineering Leadership as appropriate, including the Assistant Program Manager for Systems Engineering (APMSE), Class Desks and the Assistant Program Manager for Engineering (APME)
- Ability to coordinate and work with Contractor engineers to provide technical guidance, adjudicate technical issues, and coordinate answers on technical questions when needed
- Ability to generate technical presentations on assigned projects when needed
- Ability to explain and coordinate technical issues and problems with Avionics IPT Leadership, Engineering Leadership, and other technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) as appropriate
- Ability to coordinate with other NAVAIR and external organizations as appropriate to the project. Examples include NAVAIR lighting lab, Manned Flight Simulator, PMA-260 (Support Equipment), PMA-205 (Training), PMA-209 (Common Avionics), etc.
- Current or active Secret clearance, must be able to obtain Top Secret clearance.
