Job Description:
Global Data Protection Engineer - 100% REMOTE
What You Will Do:
The Global Data Protection Engineer will be a critical member of the Backup/Storage team. This position will be responsible for and have duties in:
  • Providing daily operational support of the company's business critical data in multiple regions both cloud and on-premises, across multiple platform and database technologies, and ERP systems
    • 200K+ backup jobs, 1PB of data
    • 5,000 server platform devices
    • 500 databases
    • 300+ Supply Chain sites
  • Being a key technical contributor with recommendations and optimizations as needed to the Backup environment through process improvements, automations, and troubleshooting
  • Contributing to architectural standards and best practices, engineering and implementing to production mode
  • Participating in major IT initiatives related on Cloud migrations, Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, and Cyber Security related data protection
This position is in a high-paced and demanding environment with opportunities to display clear time management skills, self-directed organizational skills, and attention to detail. Additionally, the ideal candidate is a self-starter, self-disciplined with their work, and often going above and beyond what is needed/requested.
Basic Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of data protection experience in large, enterprise-class environments
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends, participating in on-call rotations
Required Demonstrable Experience In The Following:
  • CommVault:
    • Deploy and Configure clients, libraries, media agents, storage plans and policies, etc.
    • Daily backup management, adding new clients, resolving failures, creating reports
    • Manage and configure Metallic
  • Commvault Azure Data Protection
    • All activities as defined above in a multi-zone Azure environment
    • Migration experience from an on-prem to Azure
  • Automation Capabilities
    • Design, creation and deployment of Commvault automation using Powershell, Bash or PERL scripts and/or workflows
  • Backup Technology Hardware Support and Troubleshooting
    • Previous experience with server/backup related hardware components
  • Change Management using ITIL Standards
Experience Preferred In The Following Additional Skills:
  • SAP/HANA
  • Database Technologies: SQL, Oracle, DB2
  • Windows Servers Operating Systems
  • AIX, Unix, Linux Operating Systems
  • VMware ESX Infrastructure
  • SAN/NAS Administration
  • Networking Concepts
  • Use of CyberSecurity best practices in a global organization

  • Engineer mentality of seeking better solutions and increase efficacy/productivity of the team
  • Highly detail oriented and methodical approach to their work
  • Proven history of logical, deductive reasoning approach to troubleshooting
  • Proven record of project completion, technical lead role a plus
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
