Job Title:
Junior Windows Server Administrator
Location: Detroit, MI - Hybrid schedule (In office T, W, Th)
Position Type: W2 contract 12 Months, then eligible for renewal/extension

Overview

We are seeking a motivated Junior Windows Server Administrator to join our IT Infrastructure team. This role is ideal for someone with a foundational understanding of Windows Server environments, hands-on patching experience, and a desire to grow into a more advanced systems administration career path. Experience with Ivanti patch management is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities


  • Perform routine maintenance, updates, and patching of Windows Server systems to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Assist in server provisioning, configuration, and monitoring.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of hardware, software, and networking issues related to Windows Server environments.
  • Collaborate with senior administrators to maintain system availability, reliability, and security compliance.
  • Document processes, configurations, and maintenance activities.
  • Participate in off-hours maintenance windows or on-call rotation as needed.

Required Qualifications


  • 1 2 years of experience supporting Windows Server environments (2016, 2019, or later).
  • Hands-on experience applying patches, updates, and service packs in enterprise environments.
  • Basic understanding of Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy.
  • Familiarity with server monitoring tools and remote management.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow documented procedures and work within change management processes.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience with Ivanti Patch Management or similar enterprise patching tools.
  • Basic PowerShell scripting knowledge.
  • Exposure to virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem management).
