Java Full-Stack Developer with a Data Science domain

Job title: Java FullStack Developer
Location: Chicago, IL (Onsite)
mandatory Skills: Data Science, ML, Healthcare, Java, Python and JavaScript

Responsibilities: -

• Optimize application performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure security compliance.
• Integrate AI-related tools and techniques into software solutions.
• Develop and maintain AI-driven applications, ensuring high performance, scalability, and accessibility for the life science and healthcare domain.
• Write high-quality source code, including detailed documentation and high-level technical designs in collaboration with other engineers.
• Conduct and lead root cause analysis on defects, ensuring fixes are implemented correctly.
• Implement creative solutions to technical challenges, applying out-of-the-box thinking to improve existing products.
• Deliver quality products by embracing transparency, inspection, and adaptation in an agile environment.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to best practices in development.
• Work in an agile team with developers of varying skill levels.
• Guide the team on best practices for automation across testing, integration, and deployment activities.
• Support the team with technical solutions to ensure business needs and technical feasibility.
• Champion technical standards and architectural alignment within the team.
• Advocate for defining and testing Non-Functional Requirements (Availability, Scalability, Reliability, and Maintainability).
• Collaborate with and guide team members to ensure that implementations satisfy requirements.
• Collaborate with team members while fostering trust, commitment, and accountability.
• Drive discovery and minimization of technical debt, proactively addressing implications and consequences of technical decisions.

Mandatory skills

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field. (must have)
• 8+ years of experience building production-grade web applications, including significant contributions to AI-powered or data-intensive applications. (must have)
• Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, design patterns, operating systems, and networking. (must have)
• Strong backend experience in Java, Python and JavaScript. Deep knowledge of Java/JDK features. Strong understanding of JVM internals, including memory models, garbage collection and class loading mechanisms. (must have)
• Expert-level experience with Spring Framework (IoC, AOP), including Spring Boot, Spring Security (OAuth2/JWT), and Spring Data. Familiarity with frontend frameworks like Angular or React. (must have)
• Experience in developing AI-powered applications, including LLM integration and prompt engineering concepts. (nice to have)
• Solid hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD and feature flag tools. (must have)
• Proficient in MySQL and PostgreSQL, skilled in SQL query optimization. (must have)
• Advanced use of Redis, including RedLock for distributed locking, Streams for event processing, and hot key detection techniques. (nice to have)
• Experience working with Elasticsearch and vector databases for embedding-based search and retrieval. (must have)
• Ability to translate business needs into optimal technical implementations while balancing technical debt and delivery speed. (must have)
• Strong problem-solving mindset to handle complex technical challenges and make informed architectural decisions. (must have)
• Experience in high-performance, scalable system design. (must have)
• Excellent collaboration skills, working effectively with cross-functional teams including product, design, and data science. (must have)
• Passion for AI technologies and innovation, particularly in applications for life sciences and healthcare. (nice to have)
