Our Solutions team is seeking an experienced Sr Software Engineer (AWS) to support our project with a global media & entertainment client to refactor an existing .Net application into a microservice-driven application built on AWS. This new solution will require us to platform the solution on AWS and integrate with upstream and downstream sources using APIs and serverless architecture. We are seeking an experienced AWS Microservices Engineer to join our team and our ideal person will have a comprehensive understanding of the AWS developer environment, and related tools and products including IAM permissions, logging with AWS data stores, and data validation.
We have a direct relationship with our client and are setting up interviews immediately. This position must be worked onsite in a hybrid schedule in the Greater Los Angeles area (close to Hollywood), requiring the work to be done onsite at least 2 days / week. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy microservices using Java or Node.js within a serverless AWS architecture (e.g., AWS Lambda).
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs using Amazon API Gateway, integrating with DynamoDB and other AWS services.
- Implement secure and efficient OAuth 2.0 flows for authentication and inter-service communication.
- Integrate with internal and third-party APIs, managing authentication, error handling, and data transformation.
- Design scalable, high-performance data models and queries for DynamoDB and other AWS data stores.
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code in Java or Node.js, following modern software engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with DevOps to define and enhance CI/CD pipelines for deploying and managing serverless microservices.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize service performance using AWS CloudWatch, X-Ray, and related observability tools.
- Document service architecture, API specifications, and operational procedures in detailed runbooks.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying microservices using Java or Node.js within a serverless AWS architecture.
- Strong knowledge of AWS services, including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, X-Ray, Secrets Manager, VPC, SQS, and optionally EventBridge.
- Experience with OAuth 2.0 flows for secure authentication and inter-service communication.
- Proficiency in integrating with internal and third-party APIs, including managing authentication, error handling, and data transformation.
- Ability to design scalable, high-performance data models and queries for DynamoDB and other AWS data stores.
- Expertise in writing clean, maintainable, and testable code following modern software engineering best practices.
- Experience collaborating with DevOps to define and enhance CI/CD pipelines for serverless microservices.
- Strong troubleshooting and optimization skills for service performance using AWS observability tools.
- Excellent documentation skills for service architecture, API specifications, and operational procedures.
Additional Details
The base range for this contract position is $55-75/per hour, depending on experience. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered.
