Project Overview:
We are seeking a Nuance IVR Developer for a short-term engagement to assist with the design, development, and optimization of IVR applications within a healthcare context. The ideal candidate will have direct experience with Nuance platforms, strong natural language understanding (NLU) skills, and a solid understanding of healthcare processes such as Eligibility, Billing, and Payments.
Required Qualifications:
- Citizenship: Must be a United States Citizen
- Nuance IVR Development Expertise:
- Proven experience developing IVR solutions using Nuance tools such as:
- Nuance Dialog Designer, Experience Studio, or Nuance Mix
- Nuance Speech Suite, including ASR/TTS engines
- VXML, JavaScript, and RESTful/SOAP web services for backend integration
- Ability to design, implement, and optimize complex call flows and dialog states.
- NLU and Grammar Tuning Skills:
- Strong experience with updating and fine-tuning Nuance NLU models (e.g., intent/semantic tagging, entity training).
- Deep understanding of grammar formats such as GRXML, GSL, and Nuance GRA files.
- Skilled at analyzing and debugging grammars, making updates to improve recognition accuracy and intent resolution.
- Ability to validate implemented NLU changes, confirm correct behavior in different scenarios, and ensure regression-free performance.
- Familiarity with NLU logs, tuning tools, and methodologies for ongoing performance optimization.
- Healthcare Domain Knowledge:
- Experience implementing IVR workflows for Eligibility Verification, Billing, and Payments.
- Familiarity with EDI transactions (e.g., 270/271) is a plus.
- Understanding of HIPAA compliance and PHI handling.
- Testing and Debugging:
- Proficient in IVR unit testing, session tracing, and debugging runtime issues.
- Experience using diagnostic tools to resolve ASR/NLU misfires, latency, or prompt delivery issues.
- Communication & Collaboration:
- Strong communication skills to work with cross-functional stakeholders including business, QA, and infrastructure teams.
- Self-starter, capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Nuance Mix NLU platform and conversational AI best practices.
- Familiarity with cloud-hosted IVR deployments (e.g., AWS Connect, Azure Communication Services).
- Exposure to multi-modal or omnichannel self-service solutions.
