Job Details

Job Description

As the CPQ Lead, you will serve as the technical/functional authority for Oracle Cloud CPQ within Oracle Consulting. You will lead major CPQ design, configuration, integration, and continuous improvement efforts without direct management of a team (i.e., as an individual contributor). You'll work closely with business stakeholders, architects, cross-functional teams (e.g. Sales, Product, IT, Order Management), and third-party vendors to deliver scalable, maintainable CPQ solutions that support our quoting, pricing, and product configuration needs. Your influence, technical depth, and domain expertise will guide long-term strategy, standards, and architecture decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for Oracle Cloud CPQ - including architecture, design, configuration, integration, performance tuning, and governance
  • Lead end-to-end CPQ implementation and enhancement projects: requirement gathering, solution design, configuration, testing, deployment, and hypercare
  • Translate business needs and quoting/pricing requirements into robust CPQ models (product rules, constraints, pricing logic, discounting, approval workflows, templates)
  • Author and maintain CPQ "source of truth" artifacts such as solution design documents, functional/technical specifications, configuration guides, test plans, and data mappings
  • Architect and implement integrations between Oracle CPQ and other systems (e.g. ERP, CRM, Subscription Management, Order Management, Billing) via APIs, web services, file interfaces, or middleware
  • Oversee data migration, bulk loading, and data table management (e.g. via CSV, REST, staging tables)
  • Drive code review, solution performance optimization, error/exception handling, and solution resilience
  • Establish and enforce best practices, coding standards, governance policies, and CPQ system hygiene (e.g. versioning, release management, housekeeping)
  • Participate in change control, release planning, impact analysis, and technical risk assessments
  • Support UAT, functional testing, integration testing, regression testing, and production validation
  • Troubleshoot issues in production, perform root cause analysis, propose fixes, and coordinate patches/updates
  • Coach, mentor, and influence junior CPQ engineers / consultants (even if not directly managing them)
  • Stay current with Oracle CPQ product roadmap, updates, new features, and industry trends; propose adoption strategies when valuable
  • Assist in RFPs, vendor evaluations, and proof-of-concept tasks related to CPQ or adjacent domains

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 8+ years of experience working with Oracle CPQ (BigMachines / CPQ Cloud) in implementations, enhancements, and operations
  • Proven track record of at least two full life-cycle CPQ implementations (from requirements to production)
  • Deep technical skills with CPQ elements: BML / BMQL scripts, templates (XSL, CSS), rules, pricing engines, constraints, workflows, data models
  • Hands-on experience with integrating CPQ with backend systems (ERP, CRM, Billing, etc.)
  • Expertise in web technologies (XML, XSLT, JSON, REST/SOAP APIs), SQL, and scripting languages
  • Strong understanding of quote-to-cash, order management, subscription, and billing domains
  • Experience with performance tuning, error handling, scalable solution design, and system architecture
  • Familiarity with version control, CI/CD pipelines, release management, and change control processes
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities
  • Strong communication skills - ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, facilitate workshops, and present solutions
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently and influencing without direct authority
  • Willingness to travel (if required) for workshops, deployments, or stakeholder engagements

Preferred / "Nice to Have" Skills
  • Experience in large global rollouts (multi-region, multi-currency, multi-language)
  • Exposure to Oracle Cloud CX (Sales, Subscription Management), Oracle ERP/SCM, or other Oracle Cloud modules
  • Knowledge of partner/channel quoting models
  • Familiarity with product configuration in manufacturing / engineering / constraints-based industries
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum development methodologies
  • Certification in Oracle CPQ or related Oracle Cloud domains
  • Prior experience in performance benchmarking, load testing, and scalability analysis
  • Domain experience in manufacturing, high-tech, telecommunications, or SaaS
