Project Overview
This position supports the ongoing modernization and enhancement of an existing Ruby on Rails application under a five-year statewide contract. The project is currently in its second year and focuses on expanding functionality, improving performance, and integrating new client-requested features. The developer will collaborate closely with both internal teams and agency stakeholders to deliver high-quality, secure, and efficient web solutions aligned with government standards and policies.
Position Summary
Under limited supervision, the Internet/Web Engineer Project LeadRuby on Rails dwill serve as a key member of the development team responsible for designing, coding, testing, and maintaining web-based solutions. The role requires a highly skilled developer with experience in both front-end and back-end development, strong communication skills, and the ability to operate independently within an Agile environment.

Daily Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and maintain application components using Ruby on Rails and JavaScript.
Write, review, and execute automated tests to ensure software quality.
Participate in weekly remote meetings to review requirements, demonstrate completed work, and discuss upcoming tasks.
Provide daily progress updates and adhere to established change management workflows.
Collaborate with team members and assist the Help Desk in debugging and resolving user issues.
Maintain an active presence on internal communication systems during working hours.
Ensure all development adheres to web security best practices and complies with State IT standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Proficiency in Ruby, Ruby on Rails, and JavaScript.
Experience using Git for version control.
Strong understanding of web security principles.
Proficiency in MySQL or similar relational databases.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Familiarity with test-driven development (TDD) methodologies.
Preferred Skills
Experience with JSON, SQL, SSH, and command-line tools.
Knowledge of HAML, SCSS, and Vue.js frameworks.
Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a remote environment.
Prior experience as a remote contractor supporting government or enterprise projects.
Education and Certifications
Required: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Certifications: None required.

Interview Process
Format: Virtual interviews via WebEx.
Interview Panel: Two senior developers and one project manager.
Process: Single-round structured technical and behavioral interview.
