Position: Sr. Salesforce Platform Engineer
Client: Apex /ICBD Holdings
Length: 6 Month Contract with potential to extend
Location: 100% REMOTE
Project Details:
- Need a high level salesforce platform engineer to lead the technical part of the Salesforce integration. Integrations of the salesforces environment, data warehouse, SSO integrations, platform work for the business processes to give a good foundation of where they are and what they need to do next.
- Only using Sales cloud if they have some architecture experience withsalescloud that d be great.
- Wants to get some DevOps set up Copado, fivetranfor ETL into the Datawarehouse. Environment strategy is really needed GitHub and UAT productions schedules.
Must Haves:
- Someone needs to be supper technical on the configuration (not much customization side as a lot of different people have started that). Setting up with air handling. Make the business self sufficient because of integrations.
- Someone who wants to work themselves out of a role. Someone who knows what the environment should look like. Someone who can be more hands on that can review the existing environment and determine what s needed. The Architecture is already handled but much more technical.
- Apex, Flows, ETL, API s and security (access, roles, SSO) automate environment refreshes, user provisioning.

POSITION SUMMARY & PURPOSE
The Salesforce Platform Engineer is a senior technical role responsible for the security, integrations, compliance, data management, and DevOps operations of the Salesforce platform across the enterprise. Reporting directly to the SVP of Business Applications, this role ensures that Salesforce remains scalable, secure, resilient, and compliant while supporting integration with critical business systems, including electronic health record (EHR) applications and enterprise identity solutions such as Okta.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience with Salesforce platform engineering, DevOps pipelines, integration frameworks, APIs, and system governance. They will serve as a key steward of Salesforce data, ensuring proper backup, recovery, and compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and other regulatory requirements.
This role will partner closely with IT Security, Data Analytics, Sales Systems, and Marketing Technology teams to ensure Salesforce and its connected ecosystem deliver secure, reliable, and compliant services to the business. The Salesforce Platform Engineer will also play a key role in establishing and maintaining enterprise-grade DevOps practices for Salesforce, enabling rapid but controlled deployments.
POSITION S ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The following are duties and responsibilities that the Salesforce Platform Engineer shall provide:
- Own the security model, compliance controls, and governance of Salesforce environments, ensuring alignment with HIPAA, HITECH, and organizational security standards.
- Design, implement, and maintain integration strategies between Salesforce and external platforms, including third-party EHR systems, ERP, data warehouses, and marketing platforms.
- Configure and maintain Okta single sign-on (SSO) and provisioning for Salesforce, ensuring secure, seamless identity and access management.
- Manage and optimize Salesforce DevOps pipelines (e.g., Copado, Gearset, or similar tools) to streamline deployments, enforce version control, and enable CI/CD practices.
- Develop and maintain data backup, archiving, and recovery processes to safeguard Salesforce data and ensure business continuity.
- Support data extracts, migrations, and bulk operations for analytics, reporting, and integration purposes.
- Collaborate with IT Security to enforce least-privilege access controls, audit logging, and monitoring within Salesforce environments.
- Ensure proper configuration and monitoring of API usage, limits, and performance, implementing best practices for security and scalability.
- Oversee release management processes for Salesforce applications, coordinating sandbox refreshes, testing, and deployment to production environments.
- Evaluate, implement, and maintain third-party tools (e.g., Fivetran, MuleSoft, Informatica) that support integration, ETL, and data synchronization needs.
- Provide Tier 3/engineering-level support for complex Salesforce platform issues, working closely with administrators and developers.
- Monitor system health, performance, and error logs, proactively addressing potential risks or issues.
- Maintain clear and consistent technical documentation for integrations, security policies, compliance controls, and DevOps workflows.
- Partner with Business Applications leadership to establish platform roadmaps, governance frameworks, and lifecycle management strategies for Salesforce.
- Stay current with Salesforce releases, new features, and emerging best practices in DevOps, platform security, and compliance.
EDUCATIONAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
The Salesforce Platform Engineer requires a minimum bachelor s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field and:
- 5+ years of experience in Salesforce administration, engineering, or platform management roles, with a strong focus on enterprise-scale environments.
- Active Salesforce platform certifications required (e.g., Salesforce Certified Administrator, Platform App Builder, Platform Developer I or II, Sharing & Visibility Architect, or Security & Identity Architect).
- Strong expertise in Salesforce security and compliance controls, including HIPAA/HITECH, role-based access, encryption, and audit logging.
- Hands-on experience with Salesforce DevOps tools (e.g., Copado, Gearset, or Jenkins-based pipelines) and CI/CD practices.
- Strong background in APIs, integrations, and middleware; experience with REST, SOAP, and event-driven architectures.
- Direct experience integrating Salesforce with EHR applications in a healthcare environment.
- Proven expertise configuring and managing Okta SSO and provisioning for Salesforce and other enterprise platforms.
- Proficiency with ETL/data integration tools such as Fivetran, MuleSoft, or Informatica.
- Experience managing data migrations, bulk operations, and data synchronization across Salesforce and external systems.
- Strong knowledge of backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies for Salesforce.
- Proficiency in scripting or automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell, or Apex for admin-level tasks).
- Experience with compliance frameworks such as HIPAA, SOC 2, or ISO27001 in relation to Salesforce.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for platform-level issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to partner across IT, Security, and business teams.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, balancing long-term platform strategy with immediate operational needs.
