Senior Data Engineer / BI Consultant Healthcare Claims Data Focus

Contract W2 only
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer / BI Consultant with a strong
background in hospital claims data and enterprise data solutions. This role requires
hands-on expertise in building and maintaining scalable data pipelines, ETL
development, and designing BI dashboards to support healthcare operations. The ideal
candidate will have worked extensively in hospital environments using claims data to
support analytics and reporting needs.
Candidates must demonstrate advanced proficiency with tools like Informatica,
QlikView/QlikSense, Tableau, Azure Databricks, and Snowflake, and have
experience working in both on-prem and cloud-based data ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop, maintain, and optimize data pipelines using Azure Databricks,
PySpark, and SQL with a focus on healthcare and claims data.
Implement ETL workflows using Informatica PowerCenter, including mapping,
transformation, and loading hospital claims data.
Collaborate with hospital business units, clinicians, and data owners to gather
requirements related to claims and clinical systems.
Design and build dashboards and visualizations using QlikView, QlikSense, and
Tableau tailored to healthcare KPIs and reporting needs.
Perform data integration and quality checks across systems such as Snowflake,
SQL Server, Oracle, and AWS Redshift.
Support modernization of legacy healthcare data warehouses to cloud-based
platforms.
Create automation scripts using Python and Shell for ingesting and transforming
large volumes of claims and encounter data.
Conduct SQL performance tuning and ensure data accuracy in BI reports.
Apply best practices in data governance, quality, and access control, especially
for HIPAA-compliant environments.

Required Qualifications:

7+ years of experience in data engineering, including at least 5 years
working with healthcare data.
Must have prior experience working with hospital claims data (e.g., UB-04,
837I/P, EOBs, DRGs, CPT/ICD codes).
Strong hands-on experience with Informatica PowerCenter and Cloud ETL
platforms.
Proven development experience in Azure Databricks, PySpark, Snowflake,
and SQL.
Deep knowledge of BI tools like Tableau and QlikView/QlikSense.
Experience with data modeling (star/snowflake schema) and tools such as
Erwin.
Comfortable working in Agile environments using JIRA or Rally.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
