Job Summary
The Electrical/Controls Design Engineer serves as a member of the Electrical/Instrumentation & Controls Design Engineering Unit at Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Plant. This group serves as the owners of the design and licensing basis for the plant. This position focuses on the primary responsibilities of site Fire Protection Engineer.

Job Description


    Key Accountabilities
    • Prepare engineering change packages for modifications to the station, including design drawings, vendor drawings, specifications, and other applicable documents.
    • Maintain calculations up to date
    • Assist in developing solutions to engineering technical issues in support of plant operation and maintenance
    • Prepare technical reports and presentations on engineering technical issues as needed
    • Support problem identification and resolution using the Corrective Action Program
    • Ensure changes to the design requirements are identified, documented, controlled, evaluated, and approved
    • Manage and complete assigned activities to support timely implementation for required plant operations
    • Maintain the plant design and licensing basis complying with industry standards and regulations
    • Participating in Problem Solving and Decision-Making teams, troubleshooting efforts and developing repair strategies for plant equipment as necessary

    The following are specific requirements to the Fire Protection (FP) program:
    • Maintain requirements for FP program in accordance with licensing basis requirements and regulatory commitments
    • Comply with industry FP codes and standards
    • Comply with 10CFR50.48 and NFPA 805 requirements
    • Maintain program documents and database information current with Fire Protection calculations and other licensing and design basis documents.
    • Perform Contract coordinator duties for vendor FP contracts as required
    • Coordinate FP program activities during normal operation and outages (as needed)
    • Support Site Fire Marshal in the execution of their work activities.
    • Provide support for other Engineering Programs as needed
    • Participate in industry Fire Protection working groups

    Additional Responsibilities include:
    • Supporting the Emergency Response Organization
    • Outage Support, which may include additional days and/or extended work hours

    Education, Experience, and Skills:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Controls Engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited institution is required
    • Professional level engineering experience desired
    • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certificate is preferred
    • Must possess sound research, analytical and technical abilities
    • Must be able to work independently in leadership and mentoring roles with little supervisory involvement
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong analytical ability
    • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to make technical presentations to all levels of management
    • Ability to work extended hours and perform on-call duties when necessary
