You will lead efforts to modernize legacy data stores into cloud-native architectures, integrate with BI and reporting tools, and ensure compliance with governance and security requirements. This is a full-time opportunity. We can offer a competitive salary, and a comprehensive benefits package.

  • Support the Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) with data engineering, metadata management, and governance practices (Informatica EDC, Axon, DPM).
  • Lead efforts to modernize legacy mainframe-based data stores (VSAM, QSAM) into relational and NoSQL environments.
  • Develop XML/JSON schemas and record layouts for electronic intake of tax forms and schedules.
  • Implement unified APIs and support ontology and data dictionary development across IMF, CADE2, BMF, and other IRS data sources.
  • Provide data lineage mapping and metadata documentation to support IRS modernization and auditability.
  • Implement data quality checks, reconciliation processes, and error correction.
  • Ensure compliance with data encryption, lifecycle management, and regulatory standards.
  • Support business intelligence and reporting platforms (Tableau, Power BI, Business Objects) with data feeds and semantic models.
  • Perform data validation, defect triage, and technical support for filing season database conversions (CADE2, CADE2 ODS).
  • Provide technical guidance and best practices to IRS stakeholders on data usage.
  • Collaborate with compliance and tax processing systems to provide cross-taxpayer analytical data extracts.
  • Maintain technical documentation for pipelines, workflows, and schemas for knowledge transfer.

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
  • 10+ years of relevant hands-on experience in leading and implementing data engineering solutions.
  • Prior experience supporting data engineering in enterprise environments for the IRS
  • Demonstrated hands-on coding experience.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional technical teams.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS
