Overview

This is a hybrid role with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office in Raleigh, NC.

This role provides leadership for the planning, delivery, and oversight of IT products and initiatives within the Bank's Information Technology (IT) organization. The IT Manager will lead a team of analysts, software engineers, testers and allocates technical resources to ensure effective delivery of projects and services, while partnering with product, and business stakeholders to align technology efforts with business priorities. The role oversees day-to-day execution, delivery performance, and compliance with bank standards, policies, and security requirements.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership
  • Lead the design, development, testing and deployment of applications
  • Serve as a technical advisor to leadership, associates, and business partners
  • Ensure team activities comply with configuration management, change control, and information security standards
  • Contribute technical insight in business discussions and special initiatives to represent end-user needs
  • Manage vendor relationships and hold partners accountable for system updates, maintenance, and performance
  • Keeps abreast of industry trends
Delivery Leadership
  • Provide direction and operational oversight for IT projects and products
  • Own accountability for work delivered by the team, ensuring alignment with business objectives
  • Balance product outcomes with project timelines, scope, and delivery commitments
  • Partner closely with Product Owners and Business leaders to drive execution
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to proactively identify, manage, and mitigate risks and issues
  • Lead the team on priorities, sequencing, and day-to-day execution
  • Oversee status reporting and performance metrics in partnership with Scrum Masters and Delivery Leads
  • Lead regular planning and delivery cadences
  • Assign project work, drive schedules and releases, and communicate progress and outcomes to stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain delivery tracking mechanisms focused on key metrics (e.g., backlog health, quality, velocity, committed vs. delivered)
  • Engage cross-functional partners to ensure successful delivery of capabilities and outcomes
Managerial Functions
  • Make appropriate updates to IT policies, standards, procedures, and operational efficiencies to meet business and regulatory objectives
  • Ensure bank priorities are met through effective demand management, prioritization, and resource allocation
  • Support budget forecasting, capital planning, and vendor invoicing processes
  • Provide input on resource planning and financial management
  • Manage and mentor a team of analysts, engineers
Business Support
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand and align on strategic priorities
  • Manage and prioritize the delivery backlog in collaboration with business partners
  • Direct development, business analysis, and testing activities, including scope definition, timeline and cost estimation, and assessment of system impacts
  • Facilitate system enhancements within existing architectures and support architectural changes as needed
  • Elicit, refine, and maintain business-technology roadmaps, ensuring prioritization and awareness of cross-team dependencies and impacts

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in Applications development, analysis or engineering OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in Applications development, analysis or engineering

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous leadership for technical implementation, and management of individuals
  • Knowledge of Standard Development Life Cycles (like Waterfall or Agile),
  • Experience in vendor management
  • Experience in cross functional delivery across other IT teams.
  • Experience with distributed systems architecture and design
  • Experience in business analysis, requirements gathering, detailed designing and development
  • Experience working on .NET, SQL Server
  • Ability to manage and coach both people and processes.
  • Experience working for a Financial Institution
  • Experience working in Wealth Management is a plus
