Role: IBM Maximo Functional Training Consultant

Location: Chicago, IL

Long term contract role on w2

A Maximo Functional Training Consultant performs the following duties:
  • Create training materials: Design, develop, and update training documentation, user guides, and e-learning content for various Maximo user roles, such as maintenance technicians, managers, and system administrators.
  • Conduct training sessions: Deliver virtual, on-site, and "train-the-trainer" sessions on Maximo's features and best practices for asset management, work management, inventory, and procurement.
  • Analyze business processes: Work with stakeholders to understand their maintenance and operations workflows. Identify gaps and recommend process improvements to leverage Maximo's capabilities.
  • Perform system configuration: Configure and customize Maximo applications (e.g., Application Designer, workflows) to align with the client's business requirements. This can involve configuring security groups, calendars, and other settings.
  • Support system implementation: Assist with key implementation tasks, including testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and data migration.
  • Provide user support: Offer post-go-live support and troubleshooting to help end-users with functional questions and issues.
  • Stay current on Maximo: Keep up to date with new Maximo features, applications in the Maximo Application Suite (MAS), and related technologies.
  • Contribute to projects: Act as a liaison between business users and the technical team to ensure functional requirements are understood and met during development.
Required skills and qualifications
  • Extensive experience with IBM Maximo Asset Management, including modules like Work Order Tracking, Asset Management, Preventive Maintenance, and Inventory.
  • Knowledge of core asset management processes and best practices across relevant industries, such as utilities, oil and gas, or manufacturing.
  • Experience with training delivery and instructional design, especially for enterprise systems.
  • Familiarity with Maximo configuration tools (e.g., Application Designer, Workflow Designer) and reporting tools (e.g., Cognos, Power BI, BIRT).
  • Understanding of the Maximo Application Suite (MAS) and its various components is often a plus.
