Primary Responsibilities

The Traffic/Planning Engineering Intern/Co-Op will work as a member as part of a team on multiple transportation projects serving clients in the New England area, such as NHDOT, Mass DOT, CTDOT, RIDOT and MBTA. The position includes traffic simulation modeling using Synchro/SimTraffic, Vissim for roadway and transit related projects, traffic signal design, safety analyses and traffic management, intersection geometrics, multimodal engineering/planning support for transit studies. The successful candidate will support Complete Streets assignments, evaluate Bus Rapid Transit plans, Bicycle and Pedestrian projects, roadway and safety assistance to the civil transportation team. The candidate will need to be a self-motivated individual who utilizes the highest level of professionalism while performing transportation planning and engineering assignments.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge with traffic modeling simulation analyses using Sychro/SimTraffic and Vissim

Knowledge of or interest in learning ArcGIS

Knowledge of or interest in learning AutoCAD or Microstation

3.0 GPA or higher preferred

2+ years completed toward degree

Students with at least one prior internship in the transportation industry preferred.

Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Planning or Engineering program.

Strong preference given to local candidates available for summer or fall session
