CTG is seeking to fill a Design, Engineering, PLM, and MES Process Consultant opening for our client in New London, CT.
Location: New London, CT
Duration: 90 days
Duties:
Analyze, document, and improve end-to-end processes spanning product design, engineering, PLM, and MES.
Collect and define detailed process steps for all phases of design and engineering, including concept development, system-level and detailed design, 3D CAD modeling, drawing creation, simulations (thermal, structural, electrical, etc.), and prototyping.
Support development and enhancement of PLM capabilities, including BOM management, engineering change processes, design approvals, content management, and regulatory compliance.
Map and evaluate the traceability of requirements, changes, and sign-offs throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring data integrity and audit readiness.
Collaborate with design engineers, manufacturing leads, and IT to integrate CAD tools (e.g., CATIA) with PLM and MES systems for seamless design data flow and visualization.
Drive improvements in product visualization, digital mockup practices, and the generation of accurate engineering work packages for manufacturing teams.
Facilitate process alignment across departments and ensure workflows support cross-functional collaboration, supplier integration, and compliance standards.
Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor process effectiveness and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Support interface strategies and data exchange between PLM/MES systems and broader enterprise applications (e.g., ERP).
Participate in failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), non-conformance processes, and manufacturing process documentation.
Skills:
Strong understanding of engineering design processes and principles
Expertise in PLM and MES systems, including process configuration and optimization
Proficient in CAD tools (especially CATIA) and their integration with PLM systems
Knowledge of regulatory compliance, change management, and traceability standards
Ability to document complex processes clearly and effectively
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a process improvement mindset
Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams
Familiarity with requirements management tools and engineering documentation practices
Ability to drive cross-functional workshops and gather input from diverse stakeholders
Experience:
5+ years of experience in design, engineering, or manufacturing environments
Proven track record in process consulting or engineering process improvement roles
Hands-on experience with PLM tools (e.g., Siemens Teamcenter, Dassault ENOVIA) and MES platforms
Background in defense, aerospace, automotive, or complex manufacturing environments preferred
Experience with digital thread concepts, lifecycle visualization, and engineering-to-manufacturing workflows
Education:
Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field required
Master s degree or certifications in PLM/MES systems, systems engineering, or process management preferred
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
