Job Description
A government agency is seeking an experienced Enterprise Data Reporting Specialist to support enterprise-level reporting services. The consultant will provide analytical and programming support for developing and maintaining reporting systems that include dashboards, custom reports, and data extracts. This includes enhancing existing business intelligence (BI) platforms and working with stakeholders to meet evolving reporting needs.
Key Responsibilities
Deliverable 1: Report and Dashboard Development
- Gather business and reporting requirements from internal stakeholders
- Design and develop reports using SQL, IBM Cognos, and Microsoft Power BI
- Document specifications, perform testing, and ensure adherence to technical and security standards
- Integrate reporting systems with applications and batch processes (e.g., Cognos SDK)
Deliverable 2: Production System Maintenance & Functional Administration
- Maintain and tune BI reports and dashboards for performance and reliability
- Administer and support Cognos and Power BI environments
- Develop and manage data extracts from enterprise databases and data warehouses
- Maintain framework packages and technical documentation
- Implement data-level security for sensitive reporting content
Deliverable 3: Knowledge Transfer
- Conduct ongoing knowledge sharing with internal staff
- Document processes, triage logs, test cases, meeting notes, and system details
- Ensure all documentation is current and accessible to the client s team
Minimum Qualifications (Required)
- 5+ years experience with report development using BI tools such as IBM Cognos and Microsoft Power BI
- 5+ years experience with PL/SQL, SQL, and JavaScript for custom report development
- 5+ years experience administering Cognos or Power BI in a functional capacity
- 3+ years experience with report meta modeling (e.g., creating conformed dimensions, hierarchies, and data dictionaries)
- Familiarity with secure report development and applying data-level security controls
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in domains such as Pension, Health Insurance, Customer Service, Finance, or Risk
- Background in public sector IT projects or regulated environments
- Strong documentation and knowledge transfer capabilities
