Job Description

Note: This position follows our hybrid-friendly schedule, so you get the best of both worlds - flexibility and collaboration. In office days will be 2-3 per week averaging 10-12 days per month in our St Petersburg, FL Corporate Office.

Job Summary:

As a Lead Engineer for the Financial Accounting Applications Team, you will take a lead role in the detailed technical design, development, and implementation of applications using existing and emerging technology platforms. You will serve as a technical lead, helping guide architectural design decisions, developing and reviewing model and application code, and ensuring high availability and performance of our applications. As a Lead Engineer at Raymond James, you will also have the responsibility and freedom to question the status quo and drive innovation/improvement.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyzes complex system requirements, including identifying program interactions and appropriate interfaces between impacted components and sub systems.
  • Makes recommendations towards the development of new code or to reuse of existing code.
  • Leads or participates in assigned projects, including assigning tasks, coordinating efforts, and monitoring performance.
  • May recommend new technologies and methodologies to management for meeting business needs, resolving problems and exploiting opportunities. Remains current with new technologies.
  • Obtains and evaluates information on factors such as reporting formats required, costs, and security needs to determine hardware configuration.
  • Participates in software system testing and validation procedures, programming and documentation.
  • Provides technical advice and assists in solving programming problems.
  • Writes and/or reviews system specifications, including output requirements and flow charts.
  • Assists in preparing project plans using project management tools.
  • Reviews test results; documents test activities, and records remedial actions.
  • Ensures proper analysis of problems and programming approaches to prevent rework and schedule slippage.
  • May occasionally work a non-standard shift including nights and/or weekends and/or have on-call responsibilities.
  • Leads team meetings providing status and maintaining accountability for those in flight for all in-flight initiatives.
  • Drive innovation. In addition to supporting the existing Raymond James systems/processes, lead engineers will also initiate and drive progress.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Skills/Previous Experience:
  • More than five (5) years of relevant Oracle Revenue Management and Billing experience is required.
  • Familiarity/Interest in Oracle's Financial Accounting Hub preferred

Required:
  • Full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience.
  • Oracle Revenue Management and Billing.
  • Oracle PL/SQL.
  • Experience working in Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid software development methodologies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Technical experience with requirements gathering, project estimate, developing test plans and test suites (manual and automated, including performance testing), release and change management experience.
  • Experience working in remote and globally distributed business environments, employing a variety of in-person and remote collaboration tools, including email, phone, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Azure-DevOps, etc.

Preferred:
  • Oracle Analytics Server (OAS) base knowledge for query writing (able to train).
  • Oracle Data Integrator (able to train).

  • Demonstrate a satisfactory level of technical and professional skill or knowledge in position-related areas; remains current with developments and trends in areas of expertise.
  • Clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.
  • Identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities; compare data from different sources to draw conclusions.
  • Clearly communicate (both verbal and written) in a way that provides team members and leadership the tools required to make appropriate decisions.
