MS Wealth Management (MSWM) Technology
Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) Technology is the global technology department responsible for the design, development, delivery and support of the technical solutions behind the products and services used by the Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) business. The department is comprised of 10 organizations: Sales, Banking & Corporate-Client Technology, Investment Products & Markets Technology, Client Reporting, Core Processing, Private and International Wealth Management Technology, Technology Integration Office, Enterprise Infrastructure & Production Management, Capital Markets Application & Data Services, Deployment Planning & Release Management, and the Chief Operating Office. Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) Technology works with large scale databases such as DB2 and SQL Server, proprietary and non-proprietary messaging software, a broad variety of vendor products, numerous financial exchanges and regulatory entities, and programming languages ranging from .Net and Java to Cobol and VB.Net.
Position Description
This position is for a Full Stack Developer for Morgan Stanley Wealth Management' Field and Client Technology (FACT) at Morgan Stanley's New York offices.
The charter of this team is to develop Client-facing Websites and applications. Working as a member of this team, the candidate will be responsible for developing and supporting external client facing web applications. This is a hands-on role and is responsible for coding, testing, and debugging applications.
The candidate is expected to provide technical expertise and recommendations in assessing new software projects and initiatives to support and enhance our existing applications. The candidate will also be required to code, conduct code reviews, and test software as needed, along with participating in application architecture and design and other phases of the SDLC. The candidate may also be called on to provide technical, troubleshooting and design guidance to other application development teams.
The candidate should be flexible, highly adaptable and excellent team player. The candidate should expect to work in a global virtual team, sometimes across multiple time zones. The candidate may be assigned to more than one role or project at a time. The candidate will be required to take ownership of small/medium applications, or application components within the client websites and ensure delivery of the same through his/her team.
The candidate should be an expert in Java and should have experience with React. He or she should have at least 5+ years of application development experience in Financial Services or Wealth Management. Exposure or experience to web development is required and mobile web development will be considered an added bonus.
The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated team player committed to delivering on time and should be able to work with under supervision.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $120,000 and $160,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.

- Good problem-solving skills
- Solid understanding and experience with Object-Oriented design and development
- Must have a thorough understanding of web technologies and web architectures
- Strong Information Taxonomy/Architecture design skills
- 4+ years of Java development
- Experience in designing high volume, and highly available systems, including performance and tuning
- Design, develop and enhance end to end system solutions based on SOA pattern modeling integration
- Requires experience using Eclipse/JDeveloper for developing SOA composites
- Expert knowledge and experience in design of multi-tiered web-based systems
- Relevant experience with SOAP and REST based web services, Spring, Spring integration, Hibernate is a must
- Extensive experience in Java, Sybase, Oracle, ORMs, SQL, JDBC, Embedded SQL
- Relevant experience with React, JavaScript, JQuery AJAX and related frameworks is a plus
- Subversion, Make, and Maven experience
- Knowledge of industry standards and architectures and design and integration principles for complex, heterogeneous systems
- Creative thinker, self-starter, able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent inter-personal and communication skills to work with the technical and/or business communities in arriving at appropriate architecture and design for complex applications
- Should have 3+ years' experience of working with geographically dispersed teams, that fall across different time zones
Skills Desired
- 4+ years of experience in Java server technologies like J2EE, servlets
- Extensive hands-on experience in Core Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring Integration
- Experience in Tomcat, Maven, etc. tools used for Java development
- Experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
- Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming design patterns and methodologies
- Good understanding of Web Services protocols such as REST, SOAP and API design for extensibility and portability.
