Job Details

Position: Data Analyst 3

Location: Richmond, VA (Hybrid Onsite Tues Thurs, Remote Mon & Fri)

Client: Virginia Information Technology Agency (VITA)

Duration: Long-term Contract

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and document analytic datasets and analytics data marts.
  • Develop and merge data files from different platforms and sources using linkage where needed.
  • Respond to routine requests for data analysis and reports with some guidance or supervision. These requests involve using intermediate SAS, SQL or other reporting. This includes discussion and interpretation of the results with requestors.
  • Utilize intermediate programming techniques to produce understandable and usable output reports, tables and figures from the OPTN or special research databases driven by project specific needs, adhering to department standards and procedures including documentation of work.
  • Collaborate with Research and data analytics and other UNOS departments, and the larger Transplant Community to identify and understand their analytical needs and translate these into impactful solutions.
  • Develop domain knowledge in organ transplantation and the OPTN database and utilize this knowledge in the generation of reports and analytical tools.
  • Develop programs and methodologies (i.e., error checking, troubleshooting, etc.) for maintaining Research data marts by monitoring database quality.
  • Assist senior staff in the preparation of analytic results in the form of both data and written reports, manuscripts and abstracts/posters for professional meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • 2+ years of SAS, SQL (including PROC SQL in SAS, MySQL, T-SQL) or other related programming experience required.

Critical Skills

  • Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Microsoft Azure services - Data Factory, SQL Database, Azure DevOps, SQL managed instances is preferred.
  • PC proficiency including use of Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required.
  • Strong written and oral English-language skills, the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, multitasking environment, the ability to work independently and as part of a team are required.
  • Requires self-motivated, collaborative individual who functions well within a team.
  • Critical thinking and analytic skills, attention to detail, and demonstrated ability to perform high-quality work required.
  • Communication skills to include ability to translate system requirements into consumable output, presenting results of analysis, or explaining impact of database changes required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with data management projects, including Medicare, CMS data sources and medical /pharmacy claims data is a plus.
  • Experience with data capture tools like Medrio, Castor and Qualtrics is a plus.

Education

  • 4-year degree or equivalent level of SAS, SQL, R, or other programming experience is required. An advanced degree in mathematics, data-oriented or computing specialty is preferred.
