Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lab Technician II to join our team in Redmond, Washington. The ideal candidate will have over three years of experience in electrical and mechanical assembly and troubleshooting within a prototype or manufacturing environment. This role involves working on opto/mechanical/electronic prototype test systems, maintaining lab organization, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform assembly, bring-up, and troubleshooting of opto/mechanical/electronic prototype test systems.
  • Conduct mechanical assembly testing using calibrated measurement tools.
  • Perform electrical assembly and testing using specialized equipment.
  • Maintain an organized lab, including part inventory, consumables, tools, and adherence to 5S standards.
  • Prioritize and balance multiple tasks to complete a given statement of work.
  • Collaborate with design engineers for troubleshooting, clarification, and feedback.
  • Adapt to a daily changing statement of work.
  • Assist the wider organization with assembly work as needed.

Mechanical Skills:
  • Familiarity with CAD systems (e.g., NX, SolidWorks).
  • Experience with bills of materials and assembly instructions.
  • Proficiency with basic hand tools.

Electrical Skills:
  • Proficient in hand soldering.
  • Experience troubleshooting small electronic equipment.
  • Familiarity with electronic analysis tools, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams.

General Skills:
  • Willingness to propose and implement process improvements to enhance production efficiency.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding customer issues or potential problems.
  • Work collaboratively with a diverse cross-functional team.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for documentation purposes.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or three years of relevant experience.
  • Proven troubleshooting experience with smaller electronic devices.
  • Familiarity with electronic testing using software tools (e.g., testing scripts in Python or C++).
  • Experience in an assembly environment for consumer electronic devices.
  • Proficiency in prototyping and flexible processes.

Top 3 Must-Have Skills:
  • Mechanical assembly ability.
  • Electrical assembly and troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain lab organization.

Good to Have Skills:
  • Software background.
  • Experience with CAD systems.
  • Experience in optics or cameras.

Pay Range: $30 - $35
