Senior Residential Mortgage Underwriter
Location:
Plano, TX or Henderson, NV. Monday to Thursday onsite, Friday remote
Full Time W2 position
6-month contract with possibility of extension
Pay Range: $38.00-$41.38


Job Description:
  • The candidate will evaluate and determine the eligibility of loan applications and provide second signature oversight of client's mortgage fulfillment vendor approvals.
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Assess and evaluate the creditworthiness of individuals seeking a mortgage loan with client.
  • Thoroughly examine financial documents, credit reports, income verification, and other relevant information.
  • Evaluate the borrower's ability to repay the loan based on income, debts, credit history, and other factors.
  • Perform complex income calculations for borrowers with various types of employment.
  • Analyze loan applications for borrowers who own multiple investment properties and second homes.
  • Analyze mortgage loan applications to ensure compliance with company mortgage lending guidelines.
  • Provide second signature appraisal reviews.
  • Provide second signature file reviews on files underwritten by client's mortgage fulfillment vendor.
  • Approve, deny, or recommend conditions for loan approvals based on the analysis and risk assessment.
Client is looking for:
  • Client is looking for an experienced mortgage underwriter to evaluate and determine the eligibility of loan applications and provide second signature oversight of client's mortgage fulfillment vendor approvals.
  • The mortgage underwriter's responsibilities include analyzing and verifying loan applications, evaluating risks, and making loan eligibility decisions.
Candidates will be doing:
  • Assess and evaluate the creditworthiness of individuals seeking a mortgage loan with client.
  • Thoroughly examine financial documents, credit reports, income verification, and other relevant information.
  • Evaluate the borrower's ability to repay the loan based on income, debts, credit history, and other factors.

Qualifications/ What candidates bring (Must Haves) - Highlight Top 3 to 5 skills:
  • HS Education or equivalent.
  • 2 to 5 years' relevant work experience required.
  • Knowledge of the end-to-end mortgage origination process including property appraisal, income, asset, credit, and program requirements.
  • Knowledge of the rules and regulations that govern mortgage lending.
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of TRID rules and regulations to include LE/CD disclosure timing, CIC, APR rules and tolerance cures
  • Strong knowledge of and ability to correctly apply application mortgage lending regulations to loans in process.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong data analysis capabilities and the ability to clearly communicate findings.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to calculate W2, fixed, and complicated self-employed income for borrowers with multiple businesses.
  • Knowledge of mortgage industry manual underwriting guidelines.
Preferred/ Nice-to-haves:
  • Four Year college degree (BA or BS)
  • 5 to 10 years relevant work experience

What specific client's departments will they interact with?
  • Client Sales, Client Compliance, Client Sales Support, Company's Client Support, Client Loan Servicing, Client Internal Controls Group
  • What phase is the project currently in? Ongoing to meet loan production needs. Mortgage Kaizen projects are in progress and on-going.

Pay Range: $38.00 - $41.38

The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
