Role Overview
As a Shift Leader in Automation, you'll lead a high-performing team in a fast-paced, regulated manufacturing environment. You'll be responsible for driving performance, maintaining quality and compliance standards, and supporting continuous improvement efforts through strong leadership and hands-on technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership
- Lead shift meetings and performance reviews
- Provide technical guidance to production and maintenance teams
- Mentor and develop team members and front-line leaders
- Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve issues and share key updates
- Troubleshoot automated manufacturing systems (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC ladder logic)
- Drive lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement
- Monitor key process metrics and ensure data accuracy
- Maintain compliance with GMP, GDP, SPC, and regulatory requirements
- Support investigations and implement corrective actions
- Align labor and equipment to meet production plans
- Manage downtime, scrap, and performance trends
- Achieve cost, schedule, and customer delivery goals
- Participate in budget planning and resource forecasting
- 5+ years in automated manufacturing environments
- 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role
- Solid understanding of lean manufacturing practices
- Familiarity with GMP/GDP or regulated production environments
- Technical proficiency in:
- RF welding, cam automation
- PLC programming (Allen Bradley or Siemens preferred)
- Vision systems (Cognex), industrial networking
- Mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field
- Lean/Six Sigma or structured problem-solving experience
- Background in regulated industries (e.g., pharma, biotech, medical devices or similar manufacturing environments)
