Job Title: Public Safety Emergency Communications Senior Engineer II
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Duration: 1 YearPosition OverviewWe are seeking a highly experienced Emergency Communications Senior Engineer to provide engineering oversight and technical support for mission-critical 911 and emergency response communication services. This role ensures the reliability and performance of systems that support public safety operations, including voice, data, and next-generation communication technologies.Scope of Services
  • Deploy and support Emergency Communications network infrastructure, including racking and cabling.
  • Configure, test, and troubleshoot 911 and NG911 telephony systems and services.
  • Provide technical support for Text-to-911 (SMS, MMS, RTT)
  • Support vendor-managed ESInet services and systems.
  • Provide oversight for Public Safety Unified Communications
  • Support emergency point-to-point, alarm relays, automated inbound 911 relays, telematics, and third-party integrations.
  • Triage, investigate, and resolve incidents involving communications infrastructure and service failures.
  • Support and validate 911 and TT911 test environments in lab settings.
  • Provide asset management support and oversight for emergency communication technologies.
  • Coordinate deployments with service providers, jurisdictions, and relay centers.
  • Oversee vendor support and perform data and performance analysis of communication services.
Mandatory Skills & Experience
  • 12+ years of experience in a data center or field support role.
  • 8+ years in network support and LAN/WAN troubleshooting.
  • 8+ years in communications routing, transport, and delivery (Wireline, Wireless, VoIP).
  • Strong experience with MS Excel, Visio, and Word for documentation.
  • Substantial knowledge of network hardware, topologies, and telecommunications cabling standards (including pulling/terminating cables).
  • Experience with computing systems, hardware, and LEC circuit termination.
  • Hands-on experience with land-mobile radio systems (P25 conventional/trunked networks).
  • Expertise in call routing, selective routing, trunking, and location-based routing.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, follow detailed job documentation, and meet SLA requirements.
  • Willingness to travel within the NYC region, work on-call, after hours, and weekends.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • Experience with Emergency Communications infrastructure, systems, and applications.
  • Familiarity with DMS, ACD systems, ANI/ALI services, and 911 call handling systems.
  • Knowledge of NG911 ESInet call routing, SMS/RTT/TCC routing, and SMS aggregation.
  • Experience with third-party emergency communication integrations.
  • Understanding of GIS and location-based identification systems.
  • Experience with 911-related TDOS and DDOS risk mitigation.
