Job Details

Position Title: Automation Engineer

Location: Overland Park, Kansas, 66211 or Frisco, TX

Duration: 6 Months

Rate range:

Required skills: Ansible and CNF

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3-6 years of hands-on experience in infrastructure or application automation
  • Strong expertise in Ansible, with experience writing playbooks, roles, collections, and using Ansible Tower/AAP
  • Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Go
  • Experience with Kubernetes/OpenShift and CNF lifecycle operations
  • Familiarity with GitOps tools (e.g., ArgoCD, Flux) and CI/CD systems (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins, Tekton)
  • Solid understanding of Day 1 and Day 2 operational patterns in telecom environments
  • Knowledge of telecom network domains such as IMS, 5G Core, RAN, SD-WAN, or vEP

Role and responsibilities:

  • Develop, test, and maintain automation scripts and playbooks for provisioning, configuration, monitoring, scaling, and remediation of telecom network functions and platforms
  • Implement Day 1 automation for CNF onboarding, infrastructure setup (OpenShift, Kubernetes, OpenStack), and service enablement
  • Build and maintain Day 2 automation workflows for health checks, upgrades, certificate rotation, log cleanup, PVC recovery, and more
  • Leverage tools such as Ansible Automation Platform, Terraform, GitOps (ArgoCD), and Event-Driven Ansible (EDA)
  • Integrate automation workflows with observability platforms (Prometheus, Loki, Instana) and incident/event triggers
  • Collaborate with platform and network teams to define automation requirements and implement reusable, modular code
  • Document automation workflows, test cases, and runbooks in Git-based repositories
  • Ensure automation meets telco-grade SLAs, latency expectations, and operational compliance standards
